Enjoy Yoga On The Beach AsThe Sun Sets On Another Fantastic Day
Calangute holidays ooze a certain amount of laid back charm, a direct result from this peaceful resort being a hippy haven back in the 1960's. Although it has grown somewhat from its early days as a tranquil fishing port, no matter how many tourists pass through here, there is always an air of effortless relaxation, where the pace of life is almost horizontal.
Nothing is too much trouble for the friendly people you'll meet on holidays in Calangute and nothing ever needs doing in a hurry, the care free way of life here is infectious and it takes no time at all before you feel the stresses of everyday life slipping away and you fall under the spell of this serene and almost spiritual resort. That's not to say there's nothing going on around here though, as you'll find plenty to do, you'll just do it in a kind of chilled out way.
The main beach at Calangute can get quiet crowded, especially during the most popular months of November and December, so head just a little further south to Candolim for a bit more space and a change of scenery, or try vibrant Anjuna, beautiful Baga and the stunning Vagator Beaches. Water sports are hugely popular on Calangute holidays, with water skiing, surfing and parasailing all being favourites with young holidaymakers.
Scuba diving is certainly worth trying as the underwater world opens up in front of you, announcing a line up including sharks, barracuda and turtles, with the main attraction being the sunken Spanish galleons hiding many fascinating stories. It's very easy to spend your days lazing on fabulous beaches while on holidays in Calangute, but it would be a shame to miss some of the tremendous treats that this region has to offer.
