Bophut beach is situated on the north coast of the island and is the most traditional and preserved resort in Koh Samui. The west and south coasts are stunning and quiet in comparison to the east. These areas attract those seeking sun sand and relaxation. The most popular beach on the east coast is Chaweng and here you'll find the most developed tourist area. Chaweng attracts young travellers and families and is famous for the 7km of long ultra white powdered sands. You can wade out into the sea and walk to a small island just off the coast for a more secluded sunning area. Chaweng beach regularly see's food and beverage sellers along the sands and you can purchase souvenirs and other handicraft goods.
