Neopolitan Riviera Holidays Image

From Naples To Pompeii With Pizza On The Way

A Land Of Cappuccino And Chianti...

Neapolitan Riviera holidays offer breathtaking beaches, stunning scenery, and an abundance of history and classic architecture. A holiday to the Neapolitan Riviera can be a relaxing seaside break away, a cultural experience you'll never forget, or a clever mixture of both. The Neapolitan Riviera is only a 2 and a half?hour flight time away from the UK, flying into Naples you'll be greeted by temperatures of over 30 degrees?C in August, with more than 10 hours of sunshine a day. Accommodation ranges from self catering to the more popular bed and breakfast or board options as there are so many fascinating hotels in this area.

Stretching from Naples in the north down to Paestrum in the south, Neapolitan Riviera holidays offer a stunning rugged coastline, with fine restaurants and superb shopping. The city of Naples, with it's bustling active streets and al fresco dining is the original home to the margherita pizza, made from locally sourced tomatoes and mozzarella cheese. A visit to the legendary city of Pompeii will enthral you with its history; totally buried in AD 79 when Mount Vesuvius erupted, it was only rediscovered in 1748, and offers a fascinating insight into ancient Roman life. A short ferry ride will whisk you over to the islands of Ischia, Procida and Capri. Ischia is an extremely popular health resort, with its natural thermal springs and spas. Procida is covered in fragrant orange and lemon groves, while Capri, with its enchanting small coves, has a more upmarket feel.

The Neapolitan Riviera will leave you with memories to treasure for a lifetime.

Back on the main land, is the romantic town of Sorrento, hanging on the edge of a cliff with stunning views over the Bay and also of Mount Vesuvius. Life here revolves around the bustling Piazzo Tasso area, with its street cafes and cobbled setting; you can watch Italians go about their daily business, while enjoying a cappuccino or Chianti, until the sun goes down and the square really comes to life.

Probably the most stunning stretch of sightseeing is the drive from Sorrento to Amalfi. This narrow, twisting road has breathtaking views, and sharp bends, definitely not for the faint hearted, but certainly worth the journey as Amalfi itself is stunning. A working fishing port and also a lively waterfront resort. For a more refined day out, then visit Ravello, a quiet town with some spectacular views, or the pretty Positano, with its pastel houses wedged into the cliff sides, full of romance and charm, and a slightly more cosmopolitan feel.

For beach lovers there's the magnificent Maiori, with wonderful sands and warm Mediterranean waters, ideal for sampling the water sports on offer in this area. Experiencing the Neapolitan Riviera is a wonderful chance to enjoy Italian life to the full, from soaking up the sun on a relaxing beach, sampling its authentic cuisine and wines, to digging for the lost city of Pompeii, the Neapolitan Riviera will leave you with memories to treasure for a lifetime.
