Picturesque With Pretty Beaches...
Thassos Town is the capital of this gem, sitting in the north of the island facing the mainland of Greece. There are two harbours in this town making it a beautiful picturesque place to stroll on your nice sunny holiday. As well as a good selection of shops, a sandy town beach and traditional narrow streets, Thassos Town is also dotted with ruins of old settlements and overlooked by a medieval castle.
As a whole the capital is relatively lively but not in a way to rival the likes of Falaraki or Kavos, there's a selection of bars, tavernas and cafes to while away your evenings. There are a number of small resorts on Thassos ranging from Limenaria which is one of the largest tourist resorts, Alyki is a pretty fishing hamlet with a small pebbly beach and then there's the sun soaking paradise of Golden Beach which has one of the best beaches on the island and is perfect for families with its gorgeous sands and gently shelving waters.
