London Heathrow Airport opened in 1946 with a flight going to Buenos Aires. Terminal 2 was the first permanent building to be opened in 1955, Terminal 3 opened shortly after. Terminal 1 opened in 1968 and Terminal 4 opened in 1986. Further development took place and in 2008 Terminal 5 was open and in 2010 Terminal 2 was demolished and a fresh new Terminal 2 has just opened in 2014.
London Heathrow Airport is located just 15 miles west of Central London. Terminal 1 – 3 are accessible from the M4 motoway or the A4 road. Terminal 4 and 5 can be reached from the M25 motorway or A30 road. You can travel to airport by coach and many coach companies have coaches travelling from all over the UK. Trains travelling to London Heathrow will take you to Paddington Station and you can hop on the Heathrow Express which will take you direct to the airport.
