Southampton Airport handles just over 1 million passengers each year and is the 18th busiest airport in the UK.
The first flight to take off from Southampton Airport was in 1910. The airport was used during the first World War and was used by the U.S Army. In 1932 Southampton Corporation purchased the site and renamed it Southampton Municipal Airport. By 1950 Southampton Airport was one of the busiest airports around and it continued to grow. In 1994 it was renamed Southampton Airport and now carries on to grow.
Getting to Southampton Airport is easy and can be reached by car from the M27 and M3. Every 15 minutes there is a regular bus service from the city centre to the airport. A rail link; Southampton Airport Parkway Station is only 50 metres from the terminal building linking the airport with towns and cities throughout the south of England.
