Travelling with children

We all know travelling with children can be a stressful ordeal, however here at Latedeals we have it covered. PACKING
Make sure only one person is in charge of packing, at least this way you won’t arrive with millions of bikinis and no knickers! Roll your clothes to avoid creases. For the little ones pack colouring books, pens and crayons to keep them happy and don’t forget to pack your child’s favourite toy!

TAKE YOUR TIME
Time is the best thing you can take with you. Make sure you have plenty of time to get to the airport there is nothing worse than being late and rushing around. Whilst at the airport take the children to see the planes, let them let some steam off.

IN THE AIR
The actual flight can be the most stressful part for a parent as the children can become restless. Get the pens and paper out to let them doodle. If your child has a tablet make sure you have downloaded child friendly apps, also see if you can download any of your child’s favourite movies.

ON HOLIDAY
Remember your children are on holiday as well. Getting your children involved will not only make your time easier but gives them great memories. If you have a child friendly camera let your child have it after all they are tourist too! Always try and encourage children to play and interact with other children.

Travelling provides the best family time for you and your family. From the second you leave your home you are together, sharing the experience.

Jet off on holiday and keep your home safe and secure

With the holiday season upon us, many of us will be heading to the airport to enjoy a relaxing break away in the sun.

While you’re kicking back with a cocktail by the pool and enjoying some serious R&R, there are thousands of homes throughout the UK unoccupied and potentially easy pray for burglars. According to the Office of National Statistics, just fewer than 8 million people were victims of property crime in England and Wales in 2012.

Don’t make it a summer breeze for burglars to break in by stepping up home security before you head off. If you haven’t got the time to have a burglar alarm fitted before you go on holiday there are some simple things you can do to make your home safe and secure.

Buy Some Window Blinds – The Home Office advice is don’t have things on view and try to look as though you’re in if you’re out, and simple way of achieving both is by having window blinds at your windows – which is why a simple set of window blinds has been cited as one of Britain’s frontline defences against burglary.

Research has shown that homes where items are on view are more vulnerable than those where window coverings are fitted. Window blinds prevent intruders from peering in to see what they can grab quickly.

Plus, window blind technology has advanced greatly and you can now buy motorised blinds that can be programmed to open and close to look as though you are in. 

Hide important documents – This might sound obvious but don’t leave keys or important documents near doors, windows or letterboxes and keep valuables out of sight. Hide them away in a safe place out of the reach of burglars.

Tell the neighbours – Make sure your neighbours know you are away and ask them to keep an eye on the house. Cancel post to avoid it piling up on your door mat if burglars do decide to peer in through your letterbox, or ask neighbours to remove any post protruding from your letterbox as this is a sure giveaway that you’re away! 

Check your house insurance – Double check that your house insurance covers you for being away for long periods of time. If you have a burglar alarm fitted make sure you set it when you leave your property.

Use timers – To make your house look occupied use timers to ensure some lights come on when it’s dark.

Don’t make it easy for burglars to break in, these quick and easy measures can help to ensure your home is safe and secure for the duration of your holiday.
