From windsurfing to relaxing

Bahia Feliz’s Moroccan-style buildings and dramatic beaches mean that you can soak up the beautiful scenery as you relax in the sunny climate. The windsurfing and waterparks will get your adrenaline going, while the town square offers picturesque cafes and restaurants that are ideal to relax in. With Las Palmas, the island’s capital, only 40 minutes away, you can explore the parks, cathedrals and free museums – plus the stunning architecture of a world heritage site.

Beach life

It may not be large in size, but the charm packed into Bahia Feliz’s beach can’t be beaten. Grab your iPod and find a private spot in one of its many secluded areas. The mix of dark sand, pebbles and rocks shaping the blue waters make for some dramatic scenery. If you’re feeling adventurous, the windsurfing school is very popular and offers beginners’ lessons as well as windsurfing championships on the beach. And they even sort out the gear for you, so you don’t have to worry if you don’t have any!

If you want a busier beach with more sand, take the 10-minute drive to either Playa del Ingles or Maspalomas, which both offer plenty of opportunities for water sports. Take a stroll and explore the lush acres of sand at Dunas de Maspalomas for the ultimate beach fix.

Shop and dine in town

The stylish town centre offers you a range of cafes and restaurants to dine in, while the tavernas give you the option to dine by the sea. Sit back and enjoy some fresh tapas alongside a glass of Canarian wine. If you want to try a local dish, be sure to sample the papas arrugadas (wrinkled potatoes). An after-dinner wander around the boutiques and souvenir shops offers a great opportunity to pick up something unique for loved ones back home.

The evenings in Bahia Feliz can be spent chilling out in laid-back cocktail and wine bars. The best evening hotspot is Garbos, a theatre dinner show restaurant. Enjoy a three-course meal as your waiters entertain you with song and dance. One minute they’ll be bringing you food and the next they’ll be singing and dancing on stage in fantastic costumes.

Explore Las Palmas

The capital of Las Palmas is only a 40-minute drive north and is a great place to explore Canary Island culture. Las Palmas boasts museums, cathedrals and some charming cobbled streets. The nightlife is a favourite of the locals, who meet at the weekends to dance in the bars and discos.

If you like to fiesta then you’ll love the Carnival of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, which takes place between January and February each year. It includes Mogollon dances, drag queen galas and is well-known and loved worldwide.

Thrilling days out

Bahia Feliz is close to all the major attractions, so you won’t have to travel far to find something to entertain everyone. If you want to cool off, spend a day at one of the waterparks – Taurito waterpark is home to some amazing slides. You’ll be flying down boomerang chutes and racing others on the multi-channel racing tubes all day long. It also offers the largest saltwater pool in Gran Canaria!

A Wild West themed animal park – Sioux City Park – is located near the resort. It’s a great day out for all ages and features daily shows. There’s also Maspalomas Zoo, where animal lovers will love getting up close and personal with some incredible wildlife.

Try something different

If you find the time between sunbathing, sightseeing and adventuring, why not experience something a little bit unusual? The Moonlight Cinema is Europe’s only permanent open-air cinema, where you can sink into comfy sofas and watch films beneath the stars. Waiters are on hand to bring you food and drinks, and you even get a blanket to make sure you’re extra-cosy as the night draws in.

Jeep safaris are a great choice, but there’s also the option of a camel riding adventure in the sand dunes of Maspalomas if you’re looking to travel in style. These camel rides offer views of the desert landscape that are so fantastic, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to the Sahara.

If you’re looking to recharge after all that excitement, treat yourself to a Thalassotherapy session. Thalassotherapy uses the health benefits of temperature-controlled salt water and to help heal everything from anxiety to cellulite.
