Gorgeous countryside is one of its biggest draws
Petra has a beautiful sand and shingle beach to enjoy with perfect crystal clear waters to cool off in, whilst you can also spend time wandering around the traditional village where you are likely to come across artist’s studios and a choice of local tavernas on the seafront, as well as the village centre which is represented by a cobbled stone square.
Nightlife is fairly low key, although there are some bars and discos to revel in should you feel the need to let your hair down whilst you spend your holidays in Petra. If you want to escape for the day, there are some idyllic hillside villages in the surrounding area to explore, whilst the ‘Glykofylousa Panagia’ church, with its one hundred and fourteen carved stone steps leading up to it, has spectacular views down over Petra and is well worth a visit to see.
