Discover the Turquoise Coast
Beaches in the Dalaman area are varied ranging from the shingle beaches of lively cosmopolitan Marmaris where the resort lights up as the sun goes down, to the white powdery sands of charming Olu Deniz, surrounded by the pine clad mountains of its neighbouring resort of Hisaronu, which itself has some of the most amazing views in the region. Icmeler is a smaller village located along the coast next to Marmaris with a shingle beach running down to the crystal clear sea that offers a variety of water sports to participate in. Culture and history
The Dalaman Region was developed in around 3000BC by a group of Greek settlers who worked the land and sea as farmers and fishermen. Having changed rule during the Persians, Athenians, Ottomans and Roman eras, the Turks finally began to arrive here in 1390 and the population has grown considerably in numbers since the 19th century. Since the airport was built in 1981, tourists have flocked here and the Dalaman Region is a top destination for cheap holidays to Turkey.
