Marmaris beach is best known as Uzan Yali beach which is a long stretch of volcanic sand that slopes tenderly into the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Culture and history

Although it is unclear as to the exact origins of Marmaris, historians believe there has been a castle here since 3000BC. The castle was rebuilt from scratch in 1522 when Marmaris was used as a base for the Ottoman Navy. Work is continuously ongoing to return the castle to its original glory and it is today being used as a museum. Marmaris' main industry today is tourism with over 350,000 tourists visiting every year.
