A Natural Playground

Costa Rica is one of the world's most biologically dense countries so you'll never be far from a range of plant and animal species, in this rugged paradise there is such a wide range of creatures in some of the most beautiful settings on Earth.

The adventurers out there will love Costa Rica - there are plenty of trails through the jungle, wildlife reserves to search and hikes up the active volcanoes to appreciate. If you prefer a lazy wander and luxury sun loungers on the beach, Costa Rica can accommodate for this type of holiday too.

Costa Rica is blessed with striking beaches in tranquil spots dotted up and down the west coast. With increasing demand from tourists many modern and luxurious hotels have been built here, but due to the country's love of nature, the complexes are strategically placed to ensure sceneries aren't spoilt.

Many of the hotels have a secluded beach front for you to admire but if you fancy beach hopping there are lots of hidden coves and white sands for you to enjoy. After all, Costa Rica translates to 'Rich Coast' so the beaches are bound to be beautiful.

With the lush green jungle behind you and the clear blue sea in front of you, don't be surprised to spot a few wild but friendly animals whilst lying on the fine sand. Monkeys and turtles are frequently seen at the beach, the monkeys are cheeky things so watch your belongings just in case they're in an extra playful mood.

A tropical adventure awaits

Costa Rica is one of the continental divides between Central America and South America. Being the bridge between the two means there's influences from both, but the country is very different to those who surround it in quite a few ways.

Costa Ricans – or Ticos as they are more fondly called - are famed for their good nature and overall friendliness. A common phrase used in Costa Rica is 'Pura Vida' which translates to 'pure life', this term is used as a pleasant way of saying 'all good', 'enjoy life' or is even used as a greeting.

Turtle hatching on the beach is one of the amazing sights to see in Costa Rica. There are many tours set up so guides can take you to the turtle hotspots – it might be a long night but it's worth it when you see the baby turtles no bigger than the size of your hand rushing towards the sea.

There are five active volcanoes waiting to be hiked up and marvelled at across the country. The 5,437ft high Arenal volcano is the one closest to you. If trekking isn't you thing, you can appreciate the view whilst bathing in the volcano-heated hot springs that surround the bottom of Arenal.

For a bird's-eye view of the beautiful parks that fill Costa Rica, Sky trek will take you on a different kind of exploration. Start by riding an open-air gondola from the ground to an observation deck up in the trees, then you zipline your way over canyons and between tree tops, making your way down the mountainside whilst gliding through the rainforest.
