From desert to bustling city

Once a small fishing village, now a man-made hi-tech city thriving on tourism, Dubai is a city of wonderful sights and culture like no other. The Palm and World Islands is an iconic part of Dubai’s landscape, you can grab a stunning view by taking a hot air balloon ride or helicopter trip.

Known as the Pearl of the Persian Gulf, Dubai is split into two by the Creek, with Deira to the north and Bur Dubai to the south, each home to many hotels, shops and souks. The soaring skyscrapers are topped by the Burj Dubai, the tallest building in the world, and a truly amazing sight.

Relax under the stars

A lazy walk around the city will amaze you with the futuristic architecture and Jumairah Mosque, you could even take a traditional wooden dhow boat trip along the Creek taking in all the sights that make this place so extraordinary.

A 4×4 excursion into the desert gives the ideal chance to see the desert land surrounding the city, as does the Bedouin Experience – you travel out into the desert, usually by camel and camp under the stars, the darkness of the barren region highlights the amazing night sky with thousands of stars twinkling above you. Nightlife in Dubai is quite often based around the hotels but, there are plenty of options if you wish to venture out with local cafes being a very popular option.

As tempting as it is to simply pass the days by relaxing on the white sands, there is so much to do and see in Dubai. Watersports are a huge feature here as the water is pleasantly warm, with water skiing, sailing and scuba diving all available. Try your hand at sand boarding or play a round at one of the championship golf courses in the area.

With one of the biggest indoor ski slopes in the world, you can be sampling the snow on a morning and shading from the hot sunshine by afternoon. It comes as no surprise that camel racing is big in this desert surrounded city, but, horse riding is another popular past time too. A family-friendly alternative is the Wild Wadi Waterpark, this fun filled place will keep the everyone entertained all day, as would the Khar Dubai Wildlife Sanctuary, there’s no shortage of exciting excursions here.
